Students in Mr. Mims' class integrate visual art into their lesson

Students in Mr. Mims' class have been studying the Renaissance period. They learned about this time of enlightenment and the new discoveries being made. Dr. McClanahan visited his classes to integrate visual art into his unit to help students understand perspective drawing which was one of the discoveries made during this time. In this lesson students compared art from the Middle Ages to a painting by Leonardo da Vinci in the Renaissance period. They learned that artists in the Renaissance discovered how to make a flat painting appear more realistic through linear and aerial or atmospheric perspective. Students are completing drawings using perspective techniques within this Renaissance unit. Mr. Mims enjoyed making his own work of art as well!
